If any of you recognise the gentleman below, you’ve probably seen the programme “Kochalarm (a German cooking show)”. When Patrick Jabs is not cooking for his own TV show for WDR, he can be found in Essen-Werden, for here the professional chef has fulfilled a lifelong dream with his partner Stefanie: “lecker werden” (literally, “become delicious”)—a cooking school with its own delicatessen in which you can book exclusive cooking events. The best part? The private atmosphere—“cooking and enjoying as though you were invited by close friends: that’s our goal”, the owner explains. And in fact, even those who hate to cook will want to try their hand at roasting and sizzling. Regional ingredients are used in the cooking, some cultivated by the school itself. Would you like to make your dream of flying come true? With indoor skydiving, it’s no problem! At the lower station of the Alpine centre Bottrop is Germany’s only professional flight tunnel. Here you can take off for a genuine free flight (after receiving intensive instruction!). You say it won’t work? It will! With a gigantic turbine that generates an even air stream in the wind tunnel at speeds of up to 286 km/h. Gliding on a giant pillow of air, you have the feeling that you’re really skydiving. Fun and thrills guaranteed! Groups of up to 50 people are accepted, and the wind tunnel can of course also be rented exclusively. And you don’t need to have special advance knowledge or meet athletic requirements. Everyone can simply take off and be handed an individual flight diploma at the end. Distance: 13.5 km, transfer duration: approx. 20 minutes.

There are a number of companies offering “escape rooms”, but only Team Escape is the largest and most popular, with over 150,000 enthusiastic participants. Suddenly, the door closes and the clock begins ticking. You have 60 minutes to put clues and objects together, solve puzzles, and get out of the escape room. We’d be willing to bet that you’ll see your friends in a different light ;-) An excellent indoor team event requiring teamwork and cooperation. Escape Room Essen is within walking distance from the ATLANTIC, and with 60 of playing time, the team-building is ideal for something to do “in the meantime”. And every game has its own backstory, so that it won’t get boring. Distance: 900 m, transfer duration: 10 minutes by foot. 

It makes the football lover’s heart beat faster! Surely at one time or another you’ve wanted to peek into the hallowed area of the players’ cabins and the team’s VIP area? Or to know how everything works on the movable turf? A tour of Veltins Arena will give you answers to these questions. And the stadium is a highlight even when no football’s being played: The closable roof and video cube are only two of many highlights. During the tour you’ll get exclusive insights into the stadium that are not normally freely accessible. Individual groups of up to 25 people are welcome.
